OBSERVATION AND SHADOWING OF CLINICAL PRACTICE

  • Trainees shadow a mentor from their discipline
  • Trainees also shadow program faculty from social work, chaplaincy, physicians and nurses
  • Cross-disciplinary mentor shadowing provides trainees with exposure to diverse roles, skills, and enhances team-based care
  • Trainees practice is observed by a mentor from his/her discipline
  • Skill development is evaluated by trainees and mentors

CONSULTATION & GUIDANCE TO QUALITY IMPROVEMENT TEAMS

  • Trainees participate on multi-site quality improvement teams
  • Each team is guided by a team of interdisciplinary faculty advisors
  • Teams meet regularly to develop, implement and evaluate quality improvement project in palliative care.
